Any time base engine components are changed, the pumping efficiency of the engine changes. The GM ECU uses a VE model to estimate the amount of air getting into the cylinders, which then controls fueling and spark delivery. We walk through the process of isolating this model and properly updating it based on steady state measurements on the dyno the same way the OEM made the table in the first place.
